Royal Prince Alfred Hospital

As one of Australia’s leading hospitals, RPA provides an extensive range of diagnostic and treatment services to more people in NSW than any other public hospital. Its specialties include neurosurgery and the neurosciences, cardiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, cancer, respiratory medicine, and liver and kidney transplants.

Royal Prince Alfred is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and offers a full range of speciality services from its extensive campus.

Dr Allan operates at Royal Prince Alfred on a weekly basis, treating both private and public patients. A full range of endovascular procedures are also performed in the dedicated Neurointerventional angiography suite.

Advanced trainees appointed by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons receive instruction in neurosurgery each year.

There is a dedicated neurosurgical intensive care, and nursing care is provided by the highly experienced team in the operating theatres, intensive care and neurosurgical ward. Additional support staff include a case manager, scientific officer and data manager.

The operating rooms have the most advanced equipment available including Australia’s first intraoperative MRI with ‘Brainsuite iMRI’, Brainlab and Stealth Station stereotactic systems, Leica and Zeiss microscopes, neuroendoscopy, intraoperative monitoring and EEG.
