Health Alert

On 30 January  2020,  the World Health Organisation declared the coronavirus outbreak a Public Health Emergency of international concern,  and the Australian government has issued a health alert as a precaution.

This is a developing issue and we understand that patients and family members may have concerns or questions about what to do or expect.

Appointments

We are offering both off-site (Zoom) consultations and some on-site consultations.

We request only essential carers accompany patients to the waiting area and consultation room. We will also be providing face masks at reception for you to wear at Lifehouse.

Please call our rooms on 1300 255 261 if you have an upcoming appointment and if any of the following applies:  

  1. If you have been overseas in the last 14 days

2. If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive to COVID-19 when that person was infectious.

3. If you have fever, cough or difficulty breathing or any of the above apply to you seek medical advice as you may be considered for further screening.

If any of the above applies to you we may need to reschedule your appointment. Please contact the rooms to discuss.

 

Surgical Cases

If you are due to have elective surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, there may be delays in issuing dates as all elective cases are being limited. Please call 1300 255 261 if you have specific concerns.

Elective cases at North Shore Private and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse are now resuming

Precautions you can take 

1. Practice good hand hygiene
– Wash your hands regularly or use alcohol based hand rub for at least 20 seconds

2. Practice good Coughing and sneezing etiquette
– Cover your nose/mouth when coughing or sneezing or into the crook of you elbow, dispose of tissues immediately and wash/alcohol rub hands straight after.
 

3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, mouth with unclean hands

4. Where possible keep 1– 3 meters away from anyone who is coughing or sneezing 

5. Avoid shaking hands or touching public handrails

a. High Risk: China, Iran, South Korea, Italy
b. Moderate Risk: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand

2. If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive to COVID-19 when that person was infectious.

3. If you have fever, cough or difficulty breathing or any of the above apply to you seek medical advice as you may be considered for further screening.
